MLK Weekend

MLK Weekend this year was filled with lots of soccer. I always play in a local soccer tournament with my women's team so I had that but this year Everly also had a soccer tournament. She played 4 games I believe and did really well. I also had 4 games but we lost in the semi finals. I wasn't too bummed though because it meant that instead of having a game Monday morning, I was able to take the girls to the zoo with my sister. Since this was the week we were leaving for Disney, Justin stayed home to get stuff done around the house. It actually worked out really well. I sure do love my long weekends.

Weekend in Review

Last Weekend I had an extra day off and it was a nice way to ease into the new year. On Friday my sister invited us to the special needs story time at our local library. It was good because Everly needed new books and no one else was at the story time so the kids got to go a little crazy. After the library we took the kids to Costco for lunch because I had to grab a few things anyways. On Saturday morning we started the day with a home depot trip. The kids made a little calendar which was kind of a pain to build but turned out okay. Later that morning Everly had a soccer game so we all went and it was fun. She did pretty good and had fun. On Sunday we had a pretty uneventful day but we did go over to my sister's house for dinner. Everly helped make pizza soup from her Kidstir box. It was actually pretty tasty!

New Years 2018

We had a great New Years holiday! We had planned to go to a block party with Justin's siblings downtown and stay at his sister's apartment that night. It worked out because my mom recently moved into a new place and the girls were so excited to spend the night there. They did some New Years Eve celebrations with my sister and the kids before spending the night. They also saw Ferdinand that day which I was cool with because I didn't really care to see that movie. Before Justin and I met up with his family downtown, we went to a little New Years Eve dinner. We were trying to take advantage of the fact that we didn't have kids so we went to Taco Guild. It was really good and they had happy hour so with drinks and an appetizer I think our total bill was like $30. I have been on a margarita kick lately and theirs did not disappoint. The salsas and tacos were super yummy as well. After we ate we hung out at Justin's sister's apartment for a while before heading to the block party. We all pre-gamed pretty well. There were a lot of people out but it was a fun night. Since it was outside, thankfully it was not super cold. I also ran into an old friend who was in town from Chicago completely by random so that was super cool. I know it was a good night because I barely took any pictures. I also actually stayed up past midnight so it was basically a miracle! The next morning I was definitely tired but eventually I got my crap together and ran a couple miles with Everly while she rode on her bike. I had been doing a 4-day running streak that went from Thanksgiving to New Years Day and so it was my last day. Everly did great on her bike as well. I am so excited for all of the fun things coming up in 2018.  Disneyland trip in about a week and a half, 2 new baby nieces/nephews, and a trip to Octoberfest in Germany. Happy New Years!

Winter Break Zoo Day

During Winter Break I had some time off so I met my sister and the kids at the zoo. We got there pretty early but it was not too cold. I heard it got really busy later in the day but thankfully we avoided any crazy crowds. We started with some donuts and the giraffes before heading out to see the dinosaurs. We are really getting full use out of our dino pass. Also, I believe we have created donut monsters. These kids can't go to the zoo without donuts now! Lou lou the rhino was out so that was cool to see and we also used some vouchers to see Rudolph in the 4D theatre. Everly and I have actually seen it before but she really wanted to see it again. We also got to see the tiger, baboons, prairie dogs and bobcats. I don't know if I have ever seen the bobcats walking around. They totally smell like cat piss. I love that we are members and get in early because the zoo was just starting to get busy as we were leaving. Yay for avoiding crowds!
