Weekend in Review

Last weekend was a little bit crazy in terms of being busy! On Friday I picked up Everly from school and went straight to Katy's soccer game. It was still so hot on Friday but the kids had fun. Teddy and Everly were even the fans of the match! On Saturday Justin was working and I had a lot planned in the morning so it was non-stop until about 1:30 p.m. First, I got in a run with my sister before Justin had to leave for work. That is always a must. Then we headed out to see Teddy's soccer game at 8:00 a.m. Teddy did really good and Everly loved cheering him on. It is so funny how at such a young age the boys play so much differently than the girls. We were very proud of how well Teddy did. After Teddy's game we headed to the opposite side of the valley to go to Touch a Truck at Westgate in Glendale. We only had a limited amount of time there before we had to go to Everly's soccer game but they had a lot of fun and I will be sharing a video from the event tomorrow. After Touch-a-Truck we went straight to Everly's soccer game. She did really good and is really improving on her defense. She scored two goals and also totally ran into the wall while stopping a breakaway from the other team. She was a little shaken up but there was no blood and she went back out and played just a couple minutes later. Proud of her for not getting overly worked up or embarrassed by it. By the time Everly's game was over we were exhausted. Aspen passed out in the car and me and Ev grabbed lunch and headed home. I didn't want to do anything the rest of the day so we stayed home and watched Hocus Pocus. Sunday morning I had a makeup class at Sephora with my sister in law which was fun. I could play with makeup all day if someone let me. After my class I went back home to change and head out to Katy's senior and final home soccer game. It was an odd game to say the least but I am glad I was able to go and support Katy. We are sure going to miss going to watch her games! It was also really hot again on Sunday. Come on Fall! Sunday night we went over to my sister's for pizza and to watch the Cardinals game. We recreated a picture of Cameron and Everly from 4 years ago with the younger kids. It was difficult but I think we got a good enough shot. It is definitely crazier now with some many kids running around but I wouldn't have it any other way. Also, glad I only have to take two of them home, haha.

1st Quarter Pride Assembly

Last Friday Everly's school had their pride assembly for each grade and handed out awards for all different types of acknowledgements. We got an email that Everly was going to be receiving an award for her work in Art so we were able to get out of work to attend the assembly. My sister and brother-in-law were also both able to make it which was really nice. Everly had no idea we were going to be there so it was a fun surprise. She loved seeing her cousins, especially Teddy, who all of the teachers thought was her little brother. Um, nope, that would be a little too much for me, haha. It was cute to watch all of the students cheer for each other as they received awards. We will have our parent-teacher conference with Everly's teacher this week so we will find out more about how she is actually in class but I am glad to see she is at least enjoying art.

Weekend in Review

Last weekend was busy but good. We had the carnival Friday night and then Saturday morning I got up early for a pretty long drive to my first trail run. I am doing a trail series and the first one was Saturday. It was only a 5k but it was a good challenge for me. Lots of rolling hills in and out of riverbeds. It was not a huge event which was nice because it was a bit narrow in the beginning. I wish it had started a little earlier but thankfully it was not hot. I think I did pretty good for my first time. I got second in my age group so I even got a little medal. I will have a 6k in November and a 7k in December so hopefully I keep getting better. Everly had a soccer game on Saturday and did really well. Honestly, it can be frustrating watching her games sometimes but she scored 5 goals that day! I was so proud. On Sunday night we did some Halloween cookie decorating at my sister's. Basically, the kids decorated one or two cookies and then ate them while I was stuck decorating the rest! Just like Christmas!

St. Luke's Carnival 2016

Fall is seriously my favorite time of year. On top of the fact that the weather stops being insanely hot there are also so many fun events and activities for the kids. One of the first activities of the season is the St. Luke's Octoberfest Carnival. We can walk to the carnival from my sister's house and the kids have a blast. HERE are our last couple of trips to the carnival. We went to the carnival again last Friday night. Looking back it was probably the weakest carnival yet. The kids still had fun but the rides were not as good and there were almost no games, including no gold fish. My other sister and niece also weren't there because they were out of town so it was sad that they missed it. Aspen did really good on all of the rides. Cam and Teddy both got a little freaked out on the roller coaster but Everly must be still on a Disney high because she had her arms up and was cheering. Ted did much better this year on the Adventure ride and Everly loved it as well. We got some funnel cake buy no fry bread this year. No face painting either :(. I put together a little video from the clips on my phone and you can see it was still a good time. I am really loving how the new iphone update creates the videos for you so easily. It is awesome for documenting all of the fun stuff we do with the kids! See you next year St. Luke's!
