Play Nintendo Tour

On Saturday we headed over to the mall when it opened to check out the Play Nintendo Tour. I liked playing Nintendo when I was younger. We had a Nintendo64 and loved it. Justin and I have a Wii but we haven't turned it on in forever. When I saw this event would be at the mall near us, I thought it might be fun for Everly who has had almost no experience with video games. The night before going my sister brought over her Nintendo DS and so Everly got to check it out. Since then my sister let her borrow it and she has been trying to play the Princess Peach game my sister had because that is her new favorite character. She has a lot to learn but it is fun to watch. The event at the mall was a bit crazy. Thankfully my mom and sister watched Aspen so I could go through everything with Everly. She did like it but it was all new to her so she wasn't really good at playing any of the games. At the event you could collect stickers at each of the games by answering questions. They were kind of tough but eventually we got all the stickers which allowed us to get in a line to play a crane machine game to win a prize. We had two tokens and somehow we managed to win a plush Yoshi on our first try! I was so excited because  I thought she would probably melt down if we didn't win something! This all actually turned out to be really good timing because I think it will be good entertainment for our trip to New York next week. I have already thought about getting her a new NintendoDS for Christmas possibly!

Friday Zoo Trip

Last Friday I was off work so I met my sister and brother-in-law with the kids at the zoo. We are all members so we get in early and currently the zoo opens at 7 so that means we can get in at 6 AM! I know that sounds crazy early but it just gets so insanely hot so we really need to take advantage of those early hours. We picked up iced coffee and donuts and got to the zoo at about 6:10. We basically throw the kids in the car in their jammies and let them eat breakfast in the car and get them dressed at the zoo. We also pack swimsuits for the splash pad because in my opinion it is the best splash pad in the state. Aspen was a little difficult as she would rather walk or be carried vs. being in the stroller but everyone had a blast at the splash pad. Well except maybe Nora because it is no fun nursing in the heat but what can you do? We got to see the bears swimming in their pool which I have never seen before so that was kind of neat. We were done with the zoo by like 8:45 AM which is funny because I was looking up zoo hours for when we go to New York next week and they don't even open until 10:00 a.m. We are excited to see polar bears and penguins at the Seneca Park Zoo because we don't have those here for obvious reasons. We will be back at the Phoenix Zoo for the Winter in July event next month! We had a lot of fun at this event last year (here) and so we are excited to go back, plus its free!

Father's Day Craft

Last Saturday we took advantage of the free Lakeshore Learning craft and made a Father's Day card for Justin. Me and Ev worked on the card while Justin chased Aspen around the store. They always have some of the toys out for kids to play with and try out and all of the kids love this. They could play in there for hours if we let them. The father's day card was a paper plate cut to look like a UFO and then you decorate it. Ev did the coloring and put the jewels on and I made the alien. I think it turned out pretty cute. My sister and the boys got there shortly after and Aspen tried to help her and the boys. She loves following along her aunty Kim. The only way I could get Ev out of the store was to tell her we could come back again next weekend so we may be there again shortly!

Happy 5th Birthday Cameron

Last week Cameron turned 5 but Sunday we finally celebrated it with some pool time and bagels which he loves equally. He gets his hair cut at a salon next to the bagel place and a couple of weeks ago he walked out of the hair salon, walked into the bagel place and sat down at a table until he got his bagel. Such a determined little boy. Can't blame him either because I love bagels! He is such a little fish and does great in the water. Ev had fun splashing with her cousins and Aspen really loved the cookie cake. Like, screamed bloody murder when we took it away. My sister is renting a house for her last year of college with another girl and it is in the neighborhood I used to live in so we used that community pool. It was fun and a little cooler than mine since it is much bigger which was nice considering the heat. We love our big boy Cameron and hope he had a great birthday!

Happy Father's Day 2016

Untitled
All the Arizona Dad's got real lucky this year as we had 120 degree temps on Father's Day. I hope Justin still had a good day despite the heat. We had some birthday celebrations in the morning so we celebrated Father's day with a pizza dinner at Mellow Mushroom. We haven't been there in forever and I love that crust so much! Of course, cold beers were also involved. The NBA finals game was on but we don't really care about basketball. It was a little shocking to get in the car at 7:30 p.m. after dinner and it was still 115 out but hopefully we get some monsoon rains in soon (so then I can complain about the humidity). We got Justin a bunch of little small gifts and several homemade gifts and he was already wearing his new sneakers so I think we did good. He was also able to sneak in a kid free trip to home depot on Sunday so that probably made his day, haha! We love Justin and all that he does for our family. We definitely made out in the dad department! Happy Father's Day!

Weekend in Review

Summer is basically here and we are already in full on pool season. On Friday I had the day off so I spent some time with Aspen and took he...
