Weekend in Review

We lucked out again with some great AZ spring weather. On Saturday morning I slept in a little but still got up and got in an 8-mile run before 8 AM. The weather was perfect and overcast. Justin got some yard work done while I was cleaning in the kitchen Saturday morning and we thought the girls were playing nicely upstairs. Turns out Aspen was getting into her sister's nail polish. My girls really love makeup just as much as me. Everly had a soccer game Saturday afternoon and killed it! She worked really hard and scored 6 or 7 goals. She was so happy! Saturday night Justin took Everly to see the Phoenix Rising soccer team play. Since they were having their own little date night, Aspen and I had our own, too. We went to the mall with Grandma and then to dinner with my sister and her boyfriend after. I was wearing Aspen in the sling and she was the sweetest little cuddler. I love her so much. Grandma treated her to a new "punzel" plush (Rapunzel). On Sunday I took the girls grocery shopping and then Everly came with me to my soccer game before we headed to my sister's for dinner. The kids ended the night with some water balloon fun. Spring break is over and we are back to school this week so hopefully the transition goes smoothly!

Park Meadows Field Day

Last week Justin took a break from work for a couple of hours to watch Everly during her field day at school. Luckily they had the Kindergarteners go earlier in the morning so it wasn't too hot. They also had some activities in the gym. I am not sure how they do it with the older grades but for Kindergarten every gets a completion ribbon and there are no real races or anything. They are more just interested in getting the kids excited about being active. Everly doesn't really have that competitive itch yet so I am fine with that. She actually cried when someone caught her in game of tag so yeah, we need to work on that. Justin took some video though and she looked like she was having fun. He works like 5 minutes from her school which is super convenient for times like this. He does need to work on his video skills a little though!

Death Cab for Cutie in Vegas

Friday night Justin and I dropped off Aspen and Everly at daycare and Kindergarten and then headed out to Vegas for the night. I know, it sounds kind of silly to go to Vegas for just one night but we were going for a concert Friday night and the hotel prices were a little high that weekend (spring break, march madness, St.Patrick's Day) so that is why we decided not to extend it. I am also going back to Vegas for a soccer tournament in a few weeks so I will be fine. Vegas is about a 4 1/2 hour drive from our house so it really is not that bad. We got in and picked up lunch from Café Zupas and then headed to our hotel. The best rates we could fine at a decent hotel on the strip was at Mandalay Bay so that is where we were staying. I was worried about it being too far from the Cosmopolitan where the concert was located but it was a $7 lyft so not too bad. Also, there was an outdoor mall 5 minutes from Mandalay Bay where I had an appointment at Sephora to get my makeup done so that was convenient too. I had never stayed at Mandalay before and was really impressed with the rooms. They were big and very nice. We had some trouble checking in (room key didn't work) so they gave us a $50 dining credit. After we finally got checked in we changed, grabbed beers and headed to the pool. I was worried about it being crazy packed but it wasn't bad. We snuck our own beers to the pool because I am cheap and laid out for a little while before I had to get my makeup done. I was really surprised how many kids were at the pool. The last place I want to take my kids to is Vegas. They might think it is cool but what fun is that for us? Before the concert, we had reservations for dinner at Jose Andres' restaurant China Poblano in the Cosmopolitan. It was soooo good. One of those meals you just keep thinking about after. We headed into the concert after and the opener was finishing up. The Chelsea is a really nice venue. I really wouldn't expect anything else because the Cosmopolitan is amazing. The show was sooo good. I got to hear the songs I really wanted to hear including Cath, What Sarah Said and No Room in Frame. It was a great night and I am so glad we went. The next morning we headed over to Delano (the additional tower at Mandalay Bay) for breakfast at Della's Kitchen before leaving. It was really good and definitely held us over for the ride home. We got home in time to make it to Everly's soccer game and then take her to see Beauty in the Beast that night.

Sephora Play!: March

My March Sephora Play! box came in this weekend and it did not disappoint. The theme this month is called Gleam Team and includes products to help you shimmer from hair, to skin to lips. The first thing I saw was the becca skin shimmering perfector. I acutally have another big sample of this from Christmas that I hadn't used yet so I mixed a pea size of this in with my foundation yesterday and was really surprised. It gives you a super nice glow which is great going in to summer. It is also not crazy sparkly which is good because I am not into that all over my face. The next thing I saw was the Verb ghost oil for smoothing frizzy hair. I have curly hair that can easily get frizzy so I am super excited to try this. I am also super excited to try the Josie Maran skin argan finishing balm. I have been close to buying some of her products before so I hope this is awesome. I tried on the Urban Decay vice lipstick and was pleasantly surprised that it was a nice sheer shimmer. The vice collection has a mix of matte, sheer and creamy lipstick colors and I like this a lot. Last is the Glamglow illuminating moisturizer. I have loved everything from Glamglow that I have tried and I think this will be a great product for summer. The scent this month is Divine Clementine from Atelier Cologne and I like the smell but I hate the packaging so that is the only downfall this month. Can't wait to use all of these goodies!

Pictures Update!

This week we got in a couple of recent pictures of Everly so I wanted to share them here. First, her Spring Pictures from Kindergarten came in. I am completely aware that this crap is just to take my money, but my kid is cute and I can't not buy the picture. HERE are her pictures from the fall. It is crazy how much they grow throughout the year. She was very proud of her pose in the Spring picture. Also, I know I am biased, but I really think she is the cutest kid in her class. Her soccer pictures from the Spring Season also came in. Since a few of the girls were returning, they are the Unicorns again. I love her soccer picture. She is so serious about soccer this season so it is really funny. HERE are her soccer pictures form back in the fall. I am so glad she is really loving soccer. All the other parents probably think I am nuts, but at least I actually know what I am talking about.

Weekend in Review

Last weekend the weather started to really warm up. It worked out well for our plans Friday night. We headed out to Scottsdale Quarter to enjoy their Spring Movies at the Quarter. Last Friday night it was Finding Dory. They cover the splashpad and there are little patches of grass that you can set up chairs/blankets on. My sister picked up pizza on the way and it was a lot of fun. The kids probably ran around more than actually watched the movie but that's the best kind of situation for them. On Saturday morning I got up early and ran 6 miles to my sister's house and then we ran 4 miles to go get bagels because I wanted to get in a long run. The weather was great and I ran in a tank top at 4:30 in the AM. Can't complain. Saturday Everly had a soccer game. She didn't score six goals but she did do well. Sunday morning I had a soccer game and then was pooped the rest of the day because that sun makes you tired. We went to my sister's for dinner Sunday night and the kids played around with water balloons and the water table. We may have to hit up a splash pad next weekend! It is pretty hot here in the summer but at least we don't have to deal with the snow that the east coast is getting right now!
