Kitty Love Friday

Two of our favorite things for Everly are the jungle mat she is currently borrowing from her cousin Cam and her boppy lounger. Oscar also loves both of these items. I even caught him swatting at some of the things hanging from her jungle mat. Who knew, all these years I have been buying him cat toys when all I needed to do was get some baby toys! He is just so darn cute it is hard to get mad at him! Happy Friday!

Going Back to Work

Tomorrow Everly will be 12 weeks old which means it is time for me to go back to work. I will be going back to work this Thursday and Friday and then I will have a 3 day weekend before really going back full time. I am feeling a lot of mixed emotions about going back to work. First of all, I am grateful for the ability to even have that much time off (and get paid, too)! I know that is not the case for everyone and I really appreciate it. I am excited to get into more of a routine. It really is bizarre to not work for almost 3 months. I have worked since I was 15 so it has been very different for me. It is like all of your days just run together and yet it seems like nothing ever gets done. I am also feeling a lot of anxiety. I try hard not to dwell on it, but it is a heaviness in my throat that I just can't get rid of sometimes. Sometimes I feel like it will be good for me to get a break from Everly, but I am pretty sure that once I go back it is going to be really hard for me. No one knows her like I do. She is one tough little girl and I worry about if other people can handle her. Luckily I have an amazing group of family and friends that are going to help Justin and I out with Evie. This week she will be with my sisters on Thursday and Justin will be off work to watch her on Friday. Starting next week she will be watched by some family friends of ours at their home. I have known this family since I was like 10 years old and we were so relieved when we found out they were able to commit to watching our little girl. My mother will also be watching Evie with her cousin Cameron on Fridays, which is awesome too because she gets to grow up with her cousin. With all the anxiety I have about going back to work it is such a relief to know that Everly will be in great hands! The other issue with going back to work is breastfeeding. Everly is still 100% breastfed. I have been pumping every night to keep my supply up and have been able to get a good stockpile going in our freezer.

The problem is that I have a cubicle at work so I am not quite sure how that is going to work out once I go back. Also, we are not really on a specific schedule with her feedings now so I am not quite sure how it will work out. Sometimes she eats after 3 hours and sometimes we have to wake her up because it has been 4 hours since she last ate. The good thing is, she is a pro at eating from a bottle. In the beginning we had trouble latching so she got pretty comfortable with a bottle and now goes pretty well back and forth between a bottle and me. I know it will be tough, but I have an amazing husband and family that I know will help me get through it so we will just have to take it one day at a time.

Christmas 2011

We had a very busy but great Christmas this year. It started with going to Christmas Eve Mass. Both Everly and Cameron were great during mass and didn't even need to be taken to the crying room!

We are a big family and take up almost an entire row!

After mass we headed over to my sister's house for our Christmas Eve tradition. We have little appetizers and open presents from cousins and grandparents.

Everly got a wagon from Uncle Tony and Aunt Krystyn!

The night ended with some beer pong! I know... mature right!

The next morning we opened presents under the tree for each other. Justin and I decided not to get Everly anything this year because she has no idea what it going on yet. It was a good thing too, because she got a ton of presents from both Justin's family and my family. We are running out of room in our tiny house for all of her stuff! After we opened presents we headed over to Justin's sister's house for a tasty breakfast with the Larkins family. It was yummy and we were so happy to see everyone. We relaxed on Christmas day and then made a quick stop to visit Justin's cousins at his Aunt's house before heading back to my sister's for our traditional Christmas ham dinner. It was tasty but after dinner we were so exhausted so we made it a pretty early night. All in all, it was a great Christmas and thank you to all of our family who had a part in making Everly's first Christmas great!

Kitty Love Friday

Every morning when Everly wakes up Justin goes and changes her diaper for me and then brings her in to me so that I can feed her. The other morning when he was waiting for me to feed her he snapped this photo of Oscar, who was also waiting to be fed. He is so in-your-face in the mornings until you feed him! Crazy kitty!

Our little squeaker!

One of the first things I remember when Everly was born was how high pitched and girl her cry was. It was so funny! She is already proving to be a very girly girl. It probably doesn't help that she rarely leaves the house without a bow on but that's okay! Recently Everly has started cooing more and responding to us. The other night she did this high pitched squeal and we started cracking up. The other day she did it again and my sister heard and then just yesterday Justin got it on video so I thought I would share. The first video is of her high pitched cry when she was born and then the second is of her new squeal. She is going to be a loud one!

2 Months Old

Today Everly is 2 months old! I took her for her 2 month checkup and shots this morning. She weighs 9lbs. and 2 oz and is 22 inches long. She did really well with her vaccinations and did not cry that much. One of the vaccinations they give is this oil that they give orally. She loved it. Apparently normally babies spit it out, but she was a pro! I am hoping that this is a sign that she will do really well with solid foods! The doctor said that she looks great and Everly even showed off how strong her neck already is. The past month has been very busy for Everly. She went to the Musical Instrument Museum, had her first trip to the dog park, watched her mom play soccer and also made her first trip to Ikea! She is doing really well at sleeping through the night. As long as she doesn't sleep all day long and we time her feedings right, she will sleep for almost 8 hours at night. She has started to become more interactive as well. She is making little cooing sounds and smiling more and more. She is also beginning to recognize me and my voice a lot more.  We have also discovered that she loves being on her stomach. During the day when she naps at home I let her sleep on her stomach since I am there to watch her. I am also not too worried because she is capable of picking her head up. I only have a few more weeks at home with her before I go back to work so I am really trying to enjoy it. She still tends to be fussy at times, but I think that is pretty normal so we are not too worried about it. Can't wait to see how she progresses in this next month!

Kitty Love Friday- Baby Oscar

Since this is a baby blog, it seems appropriate to include pictures of baby Oscar for Kitty Love Friday this week. I did not know Justin yet when he got Oscar so when I first saw these baby pics of him I was shocked. He is so much darker now, it is crazy how much his coloring has changed. I wish I could have known him as a little kitten but at least I get to look at these sweet pics. I also included a recent picture so you can see his coloring now!
