Friday Zoo Day!

Last Friday I had the day off from work (along with today) so we really took advantage of it with lots of fun. I invited my niece and her son to meet us at the zoo because I have an extra person on our zoo pass. Normally that person is Justin but he was working. My niece's son is the same age as Aspen so it is lots of fun when they are around. It was humid that morning but it was super overcast which was nice because we didn't get murdered by the sun. The zoo is under a bit of construction right now because of the restaurant with indoor seating that they are building. It wouldn't have been that big of a deal but they need to do a better job of putting signs up about what areas are closed. We got to see the tiger drinking some water and Jiwa the baby orangutan. We also had the splashed to ourselves for like 25 minutes. That was awesome. We checked out the lions and also the Rhino. Have you ever seen a Rhino pee before? It's interesting. The kids were great but also super tired by the time we were done since we got there so early. It was another great morning at the Zoo.

Weekend in Review

After being away from the girls for most of the week we didn't really have much planned for the weekend. Justin probably wanted a break! I know it is going to get super busy here real soon with school and catechism and Everly starting competitive soccer this year so I am really trying to enjoy these boring weekends while I can. I attempted to check out the Pottery Barn outlet with the girls and it was a total bust. Super expensive still and really only big ticket items like furniture and rugs. The girls were good though and we ended up just going to Target instead. We got Everly's school supplies so she was very excited. On Saturday my niece came over for some pool time so the girls were happy. On Sunday morning I got in a 5k and a CycleBar class and then basically did noting the rest of the day. Actually, Justin and I did meet some of my friends for an early dinner so that was nice and the girls were happy to play with their cousins. Less than 2 weeks before Everly goes back to school!

Sedona Trip 2017

Last week I was up in Sedona for a work conference that I have been lucky enough to go to for almost every year for the past 5 years. One year it was in Prescott but HERE are my posts from prior trips to Sedona. The girls have come before but the past couple of years it has just been hard for us to both do that and arrange for someone to watch the dogs so I have gone up by myself. Last year I started to get into it, but this year I really tried to take full advantage of all of the hiking opportunities. It is so beautiful up in Sedona and I just love being up there. It is soooo different from Phoenix and yet it is only a little over an hour away from our house. Wednesday morning when I was up there I went for a quick 5k before lifting at the hotel gym and it was completely foggy out. It was very low visibility but I was just running in the golf course neighborhood attached to the hotel so there was no traffic or anything. It was pretty crazy to run in. It rained every day I was up there but the storms are so cool up there. It was a great trip and I hope I am able to go again next year!

Sephora Play!: July 2017

This week I got my July Sephora Play! box in and the theme this month is a Glamp Out Beauty Staycation theme. I am really excited to try all of these products. The only one not new to me is the fragrance, which I like. I have heard great things about both the IT Cosmetics mascara and the Bare Minerals liquid lip color. I really liked the other product I got from Milk Makeup so I am excited to try this new one and I also just ran out of a charcoal cleanser and love Boscia so I am also excited to try this one. The leave in conditioning spray will be awesome for traveling. It seriously is still my favorite package to get in the mail and the bonus points I get every month has helped me get to rouge again for next year!

IHOP Anniversary

A couple of times a year IHOP has special short stack promotions and Tuesday was their anniversary so they were offering 59 cent short stacks. It worked out that I was off that morning so I was able to take the girls. I am actually in Sedona right now so it was nice to get a little extra time with them before I headed out of town. The kids love going out to restaurants but we don't do it very often because it is expensive so this is a win-win for everyone. HERE are some of the other times we have gone. Everly insisted on having topping on her pancakes so I spoiled her and I also ordered the girls sausage which they inhaled. They ate really well and I think Everly was in a pancake coma for a little bit when she got home because she laid down in her room for a while. Thanks for a great morning IHOP!

Weekend in Review

Last weekend went by pretty fast. It started off Friday night with a soccer game. We ended up killing the other team and I scored a bunch of goals which was very nice for my ego and has not happened in a while. We also did not get stuck in any monsoon storms so that was nice. It was almost kind of breezy out. Saturday morning I got up early and drove out to Sole Sports in Scottsdale for their anniversary 5k and Cycle Bar class.  The run started at 6 which is late for me so it was sweaty but it was nice to run along the canal. I haven't run there since my sister and I did right after our niece was born (here). After the run I drank some nuun and got ready to head into the spin class next door. It was a really great class but I was sweating sooo much and I know I smelt horribly. Thankfully, almost everyone in the class had also just run the 5k so I didn't stand out. I love starting my morning/weekend off with a killer workout so this was awesome (and free)! Since Justin had to work that morning he dropped the girls off at my sister's house and I picked them up there after. They love playing with their cousins. We all went to Costco after and then later I took the girls to the mall where they played and ate lunch. We were all pretty pooped and ready for a nap after that. Saturday night we had some steaks at home and then Sunday I got up and ran 5 miles before Justin went out on a 19-mile bike ride. All of this happened before the girls were even awake! My sister was having a little golf morning at Top Golf for her birthday so after I picked up the groceries, I headed out to Scottsdale for the 3rd day in a row. It literally is the exact same exit off of the freeway for soccer, the running store, and Top Golf so I was kind of sick of that drive, haha. We just hung out the rest of the day and then headed to Dick's that evening to pick up some new shin guards for Everly's upcoming soccer season. Sunday night the girls danced to music up in their play room while Justin and I got to watch Game of Thrones! So glad it is finally back on! We also finally got some monsoon storms so I can't complain about that (other than the humidity of course)!
