Weekend in Review

Last weekend was warm but good. After Justin and I finished Pat's Run we met my mom and sister at home where they were watching the girls. We all headed to Everly's last soccer game of the season. It was HOT out and the other team was really good. She was a little bummed after because she knew she lost but then she got a medal and was all happy again. She really had a great season and hopefully continues to learn. She will have one more final pizza party next week but other than that we are done. After her soccer game we were all pretty beat and kept it very chill Saturday night with a dinner at home and a movie. Everly stayed up and watched all of Mamma Mia! and is now obsessed with it. She's nuts! On Sunday we got some grocery shopping done and then met my nephews at the splash pad. Aspen was more interested in looking at the fishing lake and Everly took a while to warm up but it was a fun afternoon and a great way to burn some energy. Also, they got the most adorable new Moana swim suits so we had to put them into action. Sunday night we had dinner at my sister's to wrap up the weekend and I made my headband that I am going to wear at the Derby party in a couple of weeks.

Pat's Run 2017

This past weekend Justin and I ran in the 13th annual Pat's Run benefitting the Pat Tillman Foundation. It was my 9th time running this race. Crazy! I never sought out to run it this many times but it just kind of happened and now I am committed. My mom came over early Saturday morning to watch the girls while they were still sleeping so we could head out to the race. I ran really well last year and I knew I was not going to be able to run that again but I still went out and did okay. A couple of my co workers also ran along with Justin's brother. Justin stayed back with me the whole run and I thought it would help but I actually think it was worse because I just complained to him the whole time about it being hot and the hills being so hard! It was not even close to my best time but it was also not close to my worst time either. Hopefully next year I am in a bit better running shape. They also changed up a few things for this year's run. For the first time ever, the route was reversed. That was weird. Also, they started a medal series so we got the 1st of 4 medals over the next 4 years. That was kind of cool because I have always wanted to do a medal series. This year they also introduced a beer garden after the race. I know it sounds weird to have a beer at 8 AM but it's free! That was fun. We got lots of fun swag at the expo after the run and then headed home to see the girls. All in all, it was another good year out at Pat's Run. See you next year!

Sephora Play!: April 2017

Yay! My April Sephora Play box is here and I am so excited about this one. A lot of these products are skin care related which is one of my biggest obsessions. I much more enjoy doing my makeup when my skin is looking great. I think that is pretty easy to understand. I think that one of the things I have noticed is that my skin-type is normally combination, but depending on other factors and the time of the month, my skin can break out more and be more oily or feel super dry. Because of the varying condition of my skin, I love having different types of products to use and this month's box is perfect for that. First, the fragrance sample with this month's box is Marc Jacobs Daisy which I do like despite the fact that I am not normally into floral fragrances. It has a little white woods in it so that is probably why I like it. The skin prepping items in this month's box are the Sephora Waterproof Eye Makeup Remover, Peter Thomas Roth Water Drench, Kate Somerville ExfoliKate, and the Smashbox Photo Finish primer. Obviously everyone needs makeup remover and this one is great for traveling. The Peter Thomas Roth Water Drench has hyaluronic acid which holds 1000% its weight in water so this is great for when I am feeling super dry. I have not met a Peter Thomas Roth product I didn't like (the pumpkin enzyme mask is my favorite). The product I was most excited about this month is the ExfoliKate. This is an awesome exfoliating treatment that is great to add into your routine 1-2 days a week. It does have a little burn/sting, but I love that. It is kind of expensive but you don't need a lot. I calculated the value of this sample and it is worth $12 alone which is more than the entire cost of the Play box. The Smashbox primer is also a great primer. It is silicone based so I don't use it every day but it is great for days when I really want my makeup to last all day. A little also goes a long way with this one. The last product in this month's box was a black eyeliner from Make up Forever. I actually need a new black liner so I am excited about this, too. Clearly, I am still loving the Sephora Play! Box.

Easter 2017

We had a wonderful Easter holiday last weekend. It started Friday night with Easter egg painting. We actually didn't have any major spills this year so that was a success. Regardless, we have done this outside for the past couple of years just in case. We also discovered how to finally put on those clear film designs. Apparently, just read the directions and use a blow dryer. Now we know. We had the girls Easter baskets out for them when they got up Sunday morning. Sunday morning we headed to mass at 7AM. I had to do the girls hair in church but we did get there about 15 minutes early so I had time for that. Aspen was kind of a nightmare in church. To be fair, she wasn't really feeling well. She made Teddy look like an angel and that kid doesn't understand the concept of whispering. Things were a bit better when we finally got out of there. We held breakfast and the egg hunt at my house. It was kind of nuts but went pretty well. Thanks champagne! We went to my sister's for dinner that night and it was delicious. Can't go wrong with ham, asparagus, green beans and mashed potatoes. So good, I didn't even take a picture. Hope everyone had a wonderful Easter!

Friday Fun Day

Last Friday I had the day off and it worked out well because Everly also had no school. Since I was out of town the weekend before in Vegas for soccer I really needed the extra time with the girls. WE started off with a little bagel breakfast date. We lucked out and sat next to a table of cops who gave the girls stickers. After breakfast we headed out to the library for story time. Story time went well and Everly found a Moana early reader book so it was a success. After story time we headed over to meet my sister and the kids at the splash pad. It was pretty busy but the kids still had a blast. The water was a little cold but the kids got lots of sun bathing in. After the splash pad the girls and I did a little shopping. They are nuts but I really love having girls.
