Friendship Cup 2017

I got back late Sunday night from my trip to Vegas for a soccer tournament. This past year I switched soccer teams with my sister and one other friend but neither of them could go so I wasn't exactly sure how this weekend was going to go but I am sooo glad I went. I left Friday morning after taking the girls to school/daycare. We got into Vegas around 1 and hung out by the pool before getting ready to go out Friday night. We got some super yummy sushi at a place in a strip mall by the Hard Rock Hotel and after that headed over to Encore to go to Surrender for a couple of free drinks. It was not too busy when we got in but as we were leaving there was a DJ change and people were going nuts. After that we headed to what we thought was Tryst at the Wynn but has since changed to Intrigue. That place was much more packed on the dance floor but there was a lot of open space outside too. We decided to head out as it was getting close to 3 AM and we had a game Saturday morning at 9AM. I still can't believe I stayed out that late without a nap or extra espresso! It was a really fun night and I am glad I ended up in a room with a bunch of girls that wanted to have fun in Vegas, too. Surprisingly, our first game was not bad at all. We came out strong and won 4-0. Our second and third games were tough because the win was sooo strong. We ended up with a 0-0 tie and a 1-0 tie. The 1-0 goal was off of my corner kick. We were pretty pooped after 3 games on Saturday but still headed over to the Green Valley Resort for dinner. We were all passed out by midnight that night. We dominated our first game Sunday morning and we only need a tie to make it to the semi's but we ended up winning 2-1 and I scored one. The semi's we should have won easily but we were starting to really get exhausted and just couldn't put away our chances. We went to pk's after the game ended in a tie and ended up winning. Our goalie was nuts and touched every single pk taken on her. She saved the 3rd kick and they over kicked the 4th one so our 5th kicker didn't even need to shoot. I kicked second and scored mine. The finals were nuts. Immediately after winning the semi's, several teams came up to us and told us how nasty the team we would be playing is and that we needed to beat them. We had all kinds of fans cheering for us. We went up early in the first half off of my assist (we had this really awesome forward playing with us that scored all but 2 of our goals the whole weekend). The second half started and we were tired and playing a lot of defense. The ref's made a horrible call and gave them a pk which they put away to tie up the game. Shortly after that we got a free kick 30 yards out and that same forward put it away. There was probably 4 minutes left when the other team got a corner kick. Our defender and one of their forwards started talking crap to each other and then all of the sudden their forward turned around and faced our player and two had shoved her in the chest. Everyone went crazy and it was a massive group of people trying to pull people off. The girl on the other team got a red card and then was pissed when our player didn't get one. She started getting up in the refs face and yelling at them and then all of the sudden the refs called the game over. It was so dramatic but in the end we totally deserved to win. We only had one sub all weekend and she had a flight so she had to leave before the final so we played that with only 11. We had such a great group of girls that really got along well. I had such a good time and am still a little exhausted from the weekend. I got home around 10 Sunday night and showered and went straight to bed. Since we won, we get free tournament entry next year and we get to pick our schedule so I can't wait to go back...maybe with a couple more subs!
