Weekend in Review

We had a really great weekend filled with really great weather. Saturday morning the girls and I slept in while Justin went out on a trail run. After he got back home we packed up for a quick morning at the Zoo. It had been a while since we went and they were promoting Zootopia which Everly is really excited to see. It was sooo nice out. Everly and I took advantage of some free passes I had to use at the 4D movie theatre and saw Rio. It was cute and we love that movie. We only stayed at the zoo for about and hour and a half and then met my family for lunch at Macaroni Grill for my mom's birthday. We had cupcakes after and then my kids got in a good nap. My nieces and nephews on the other hand all had some stomach bug that somehow my girls haven't caught yet! We all had plans to go to my sister's first spring soccer game but it ended up just being us and my mom. We had pei wei before and I got my dish in the lettuce wrap version this time and it was sooo good. Don't know why I never tried that before! The girls had fun at the soccer game and once again the weather was so nice. Sunday morning I had my soccer game and we actually won! We have been having a rough season but I scored and assisted and it was nice to get a win. Also, the other team is not nice so it was fun to beat them. We spent the rest of the day getting the house cleaned and had a nice dinner at home. I love the feeling of a clean house on a Sunday night. Makes Monday so much better!

Ragnar Del Sol 2016

Last weekend I completed my second Ragnar Relay. I wrote about my first time running Ragnar last year, here. This year I knew Ragnar was going to be 5 days after I ran my full marathon so I didn't want to over commit myself. I signed up for shorter legs and although I felt pretty good and probably could have done more, it was nice to not have the pressure of any long legs. This year my sister joined us as well as my other sister's boyfriend and his friend. Justin and my brother in-law were our two other van members although we actually used a Honda Pilot instead of a van. Thursday night we got the van all decorated. Our team name was Scrambled Legs and Achin' again but the guys wanted something ridiculous on our car so we added a blow-up whale. Driving on freeways with that whale was interesting but she survived. Everly named the whale Starr. We were in Van 2 this year so we started our legs out in Tonopah. It was hot and dusty by the time we started Saturday afternoon but I was happy with how fast I ran (8:43/mi). After our first legs were finished out in Surprise we grabbed Subway and headed home to my house to sleep for a couple of hours. My second run was at like 3:00 AM in the Happy Valley area of North Phoenix and I ran even faster (8:34/mi). After we were all done with our second legs we had our largest down time and were able to get coffee and bagels and rest at my sister's house. It worked out really nice and actually felt like we had a good amount of time. My last leg was out in Fountain Hills and was so hard. It was only 3.5 miles but those were the biggest hills I have ever run. I still managed an acceptable pace (9:37) and passed a bunch of people so I was happy. I was actually never passed by anyone on all 3 of my legs which never happened to me last year so that was cool. By the time Justin ran the last leg Saturday night I was done. I just wanted to go get my babies and go to bed! Besides the incident shortly after we started where we took a wrong turn and almost got kicked out of the race, Ragnar 2016 was a success and I had a lot of fun. We ended up finishing 40th out of 106 teams in the Mixed Open division (men and women of any age). Can't wait to do it again next year!

Storytime

Last week I had some extra time at home and Everly had off of school so I was able to join my sister at story time at the library. We go occasionally on weeknights at the Glendale library by our house but it had been a while since we went to a daytime story time at Juniper library. I had some Phoenix Public Library books to return as well so it worked out. Teddy was at preschool so it was just Cameron and the girls. Aspen had a lot of fun sitting in her aunty Kim's lap and singing Itsy Bitsy Spider. Everly played shy for most of the class for who knows what reason. Cameron was pretty into story time as well and was very good at putting away the sticks and shakers we used during songs...even taking them from other kids at times, haha. It was nice getting out of the house for a bit and I even treated Everly to a cheeseburger at Sonic on our way home. She didn't even really deserve it but I am just such a nice mom, haha!
