Thanksgiving Weekend 2016

We had a great long Thanksgiving weekend. It started with an alumni game at my high school on Wednesday night. I was the oldest one there and I scored the only goal for the alumni team so not too bad. On Thursday morning I woke up early and met my sisters for our annual Thanksgiving 5-miler. I love knocking out a good run, especially before a big day of eating! We had breakfast after our run which was super yummy. After hanging out for a bit we went home and put up some holiday decorations. The tree looks great and I love having it up. We went back to my sister's house for dinner and more family time. Dinner was soo yummy. After dessert we did a little early black Friday shopping and I didn't end up getting home until 11:30 p.m. (thanks Kohl's line). I got up just several hours later to meet my sisters for Black Friday shopping. When Aspen was a newborn and I was nursing she came out shopping with us (here) so it was fun to have Nora with us this year. She is really starting to develop a little personality and gives the sweetest kisses where she grabs at your face. I love it. I basically shopped all day Friday. It was great. Also, Thanksgiving leftovers were definitely eaten. On Saturday night Justin and I saw Manchester by the Sea with my mom and sister. So good and sooooo sad. On Sunday I took a Bodypump class with my sister-in-law and I was sore for 2-days after that class. I love/hate that feeling but you know it was a good workout. It is amazing how fast that 4-day weekend went by but the good news is we are even closer to Christmas!

Zoolights 2016

Last Monday we took advantage of the member preview nights of Zoolights and headed to the zoo after work (previous years HERE). We love going to Zoolights but it can get pretty busy and we don't love crowds so the member preview nights are a must for us. Also, carousel rides and the stingray bay are free on member nights which is also cool. It was totally not crowded at all and the weather was great. Not too cold yet so we didn't have to super bundle up the kids. At one point we bribed Aspen with a cookie so we could get a pictures of all the kids together with Grandma so then we had to go find her a cookie, haha. I will do whatever it takes to get a good picture. The kids had lots of fun walking around together. Even Nora loved looking up at all of the lights. It was a great night and we look forward to it every year. Here are some pictures and a quick little video:

Weekend in Review

I got back from D.C. late last Friday night only to have to turn around and get right back up Saturday morning for the second out of 3 trail races in the trail run series that I signed up for. Thank God the race didn't start until 8AM so I had a little extra time in the morning. The weather could not have been better and the trail was great. It was a little uphill in the beginning but downhill on the second half. It was a 6k and ending up being about 3.5 miles. I was really happy with my pace and finished first in my age group for women and 11th overall out of 87 people. So, yeah, it is a small event but I have liked both races so far. My last event is a 7k on December 17th. After that we did some cleaning around the house and had my family over to celebrate Justin's birthday. On Sunday I took a makeup class at Sephora with my sister-in-law before heading out to my soccer game. I also got my November Play! box in the mail while I was gone and was exited to open it up last weekend. It is really good again and I am most excited about the mask and the primer. Sunday was also Justin and I's 6th wedding anniversary so we dropped the girls off for dinner at my sister's and went out by ourselves. It didn't exactly work out as we had planned (the restaurant we planned on was closed) but it was still nice to have a dinner by ourselves. I guess that is what 6 years does to you...you get excited for dinner by yourselves.

Washington D.C., Part 2

After training ended on my second day I headed over to the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History for a quick tour before it closed. It was really cool and definitely one the kids would have enjoyed. It was also a great place to pick up little gifts for the kids. My hotel had an awesome free happy hour with local beers but I still missed the girls a lot. Thank God for facetime! The next day my flight back wasn't until 5p.m. so I had some time to explore. I did a tour at the Ford's Theatre first thing in the morning. I really enjoyed it and am glad I went. It's just so crazy to hear about how that night went down and to be in that place as well as the place across the street where Lincoln actually died. After that I headed out to Georgetown because I had never been there. It is a very cute part of D.C. with lots of shopping. I also toured the oldest home on its original foundation in Washington D.C. So crazy how much our lives are different now. I had a great time in D.C. again and am so thankful I was able to go.

Weekend in Review

Summer is basically here and we are already in full on pool season. On Friday I had the day off so I spent some time with Aspen and took he...
