Disneyland Trip 2016: Day 2

On our second day at Disneyland we were able to take advantage of the Magic Morning Hour since we had 3-day Park Hopper passes. This means that we were able to get into Disneyland an hour early. It was a little tough getting to the park by 7AM but we made it. We went on Space Mountain right away because that line can get crazy. Everly actually went on it too. We weren't really planning on it but it just happened. She did okay while on it, but got a little scared after it was over so she did not ride it again. After that we hit up Fantasyland because that area gets really busy too since none of those rides have fast passes. We had to go on Dumbo of course! Once my mom and sister got in the park we started going on rides with them. The girls were so excited to see Mae. Mae did pretty good on rides but didn't like the super dark ones. She also didn't really like the characters which is totally normal for that age. Aspen didn't love the characters either but didn't freak out so much. The kids got to see both the Disneyland Parade and the Pixar Parade in California Adventure and loved them both. I also got to try some more Disneyland Treats including the famous corn dog (worth it!) as well as the seasonal Butterscotch beignets. We hopped back and forth between the parks and even got to go on California Screamin while my mom watched all 3 kids (2 were sleeping). Some favorite rides were the Jungle Cruise for everybody and Big Thunder Railroad and Goofy's Flight School for Everly. She is such a screamer on rides and it is hilarious. Day 2 was great and we were exhausted by the end of the night!

Disneyland Trip 2016: Day 1

Our first day in Disneyland was just us and my sister-in-law Carly as my mom, sister and niece didn't fly in until later that night. We started out with California Adventure and got straight in line to get fast passes to see the Frozen Live show. We were able to get passes and followed it up with pictures with Anna and Elsa right after. It was surprisingly busier there than I thought it would be but we were still able to do a lot. Everly went on Cars three times that day and that was probably her favorite ride. It was so funny to watch her. Aspen did pretty good too. She really wasn't scared of anything, even some of the dark/loud rides. She didn't want to interact with any of the characters but liked seeing them from a distance and didn't totally melt down in their presence. She napped for a couple of hours in the stroller and so we really can't ask for more from her. The Frozen Live show was pretty cool. They did a good job with it. I also got to finally get a churro and to be honest, I think Costco churros are better! We didn't spend a ton of time in Disneyland that day because they had the Halloween Party that night and we were not going. We have been before and it is fun but it was a bit more money than we wanted to spend. It worked out fine though and we got to see World of Color and head back to the hotel so that Justin could go pick up my mom and sister at the airport. Day 1 was a success!

Disneyland Trip 2016: Huntington Beach

We got back yesterday from our trip to Disneyland. It was a lot of fun but it feels good to be back home. Definitely plan on catching up on some sleep this weekend and rest. I workout regularly, but walking around Disneyland for 3 days is exhausting! We drove out last Sunday and when we got into California we headed to get lunch and take the girls to the beach. We decided to go to Huntington Beach because it was close to our hotel and close to a taco place we wanted to try. We picked up our fish tacos and ate them while the girls played at a playground close to the beach. They had a ton of fun and Aspen was surprising us with how fearless she was on the big slides. The weather was great that day as well. We didn't spend a ton of time on the beach but enough for the girls to splash around a little in the waves. Everly had a lot of fun. Aspen wasn't super into the sand or the cold water but she didn't totally freak out so I guess it could have been worse. It was a good way for the girls to get out some energy after the 5 1/2 hour drive from Phoenix to Anaheim.

Home Depot Workshop: October 2016

We are currently on our drive out to Disneyland so it will be pretty quiet on here for the next few days while we are there celebrating Everly's 5th birthday but before we left for California Justin took Everly to our favorite Home Depot Kids Workshop. This month's workshop was the same from exactly one year ago: a firetruck. Now that it is not 100 degrees at 8 am they can have the workshop outside. I don't know if they do this every year in October but last year they also had it outside with a bunkhouse and lots of other trucks for the kids to see. I posted about it with a video from last here HERE. Last year Everly made a yellow firetruck which is actually the color of them in Glendale where we live but this year she decided to go with a traditional red truck. She had fun in the bounce house and would have stayed longer if she didn't have to go to her service project with her soccer team. I will be back next week with lots and lots of pictures from our trip!

2 Year and 5 Year Update

This week both Everly and Aspen had their annual checkup. With both of their birthdays so close we are able to tackle this in one doctor's appointment. I really like our pediatrician but I still don't want to spend any more time there then we have to. It was a relatively painless appointment. Aspen is still a little uncomfortable being there from all of her ear infection appointments before she got tubes put in, but she was definitely much better. She didn't even cry when she got her flu shot. Ev didn't want to get the flu shot but I think we talked about it too much before it actually happened. Last year she didn't cry at all so we thought that would happen again but got a little cocky, I guess. As far as growth goes, they are basically both perfect. Everly is 40 lbs. and 107 centimeters which puts her in the 53rd and 46th percentiles for weight and height. This is also exciting because she can ride so many more rides at Disneyland next week. Basically, the only rides she can't go on are Indiana Jones and California Screaming which I don't think we could convince her to do anyways. I am really excited to see her face on so many more rides! Aspen is 23 lbs. 8 oz. and 33 1/2 inches long. She is 11th and 38th percentile for height and weight but that is based on US numbers and so she is a lot closer to the middle on the World Health charts because US babies are big. She is still pretty tiny though! Next up is dentist appointments for both girls!
