4th of July Weekend 2017

We had a great 4th of July weekend with lots of celebrating. I actually started my weekend with a long 8 mile run with my sister. It was hot but I am glad we got it done. Later that morning my sisters came over to go swimming. Everly discovered something that fell to the bottom of the pool and became obsessed with diving to the bottom to get it. On Saturday night I met my sister-in-law and niece out at a bar for a fun night out. We had a blast and I can't wait to go out with them again. On Sunday I was basically useless from going out the night before. I don't think I even left the house. My family came over that night since we had other plans for the actual 4th of July and Everly had a birthday party to go to on the 3rd. We had burgers and swam in the pool. My sister bought Everly a set of diving rings so her and Teddy had a blast. On Monday I was feeling a little productive again so I went for a run and to the gym before Justin had to leave for work. Everly has summer camp so I had the day with Aspen. We got my car serviced and picked up our grocery order before I had to take Aspen to her swim class. It was rough but she did great. I felt bad so I took her to the mall after. She had fun planning and we stayed cool. I tried to take her out to lunch because I thought it would be fun, but she wouldn't eat anything. She just wanted to play under the table, haha. Oh, well! Monday night Everly had a birthday party to go to so I took her and then we all watched nearby fireworks with my family later that night. On the 4th we went to my sister-in-law's new apartment downtown for a pool party and dinner. The kids had a blast and it was great to see everyone. It was super hard to go back to work on Wednesday after 4 days off but thankfully its a short week!

Happy 4th of July!

Hope everyone is having an amazing 4th of July! We are busy getting ready to leave for vacation tomorrow but still got in a little 4th of July celebrating. Yesterday my sister and I did a hike in the morning and then we spent the rest of the day getting things ready for the trip. At night we went to watch the fireworks at Wet n' Wild water park. We just parked at the place where we play soccer at which is right by it and it worked out great. We have gone to Anthem before but I was not interested in driving that far plus those fireworks didn't start until 9:30. These were supposed to start at 8:45 and did about 5 minutes after that. None of the kids got scared and all of them seemed pretty into it. Well, except Nora. She fell asleep right as they were starting and was not waken from them. I was kinda surprised Aspen was not scared but she did great and kept saying "wow" and "pretty." My sister also had sparklers and poppers for Teddy and Everly and they had fun with those. We were back home and in bed before the Anthem fireworks would have even started so it was a definite win and that may be our new spot to watch fireworks! Have a safe and happy 4th of July!

4th of July 2015

This 4th of July was very busy. We actually ended up hosting a party for my niece's son's 1st birthday so we had a lot of people over but I will post about that later. I got sick on Wednesday of last week (and still am a little) but I was registered for a 4th of July 4-miler so after resting on Thursday and Friday I gave it my best shot and got up early Saturday morning for the run. It was hot and I was obviously still sick, but I did it. It was hard, but I was glad I did it. I ended up finishing 4th in my division so I can't be too upset about that. My sister and brother-in-law also ran it because we are crazy like that. Everly has actually recently become kind of obsessed with American Flags so this holiday was extra fun for her. When I got home, we finished cleaning before people came over and then after the party we headed out to a nearby church parking lot to watch fireworks. We were pretty exhausted by that point but at least the girls got to see something! We are very grateful to live in this amazing country! Happy 4th of July!

July 4th Weekend 2014

We had a wonderful July 4th weekend. It started Thursday night when we tried to see fireworks in Anthem. The wind/weather got too crazy and they didn't end up having fireworks but it's really hard to be upset because we love the monsoon weather (minus the humidity). On Friday we were invited to a pool party at house that my friend was house sitting at. They had a pool with a zipline, a splashpad, and a great backyard for entertaining. We had a water balloon toss contest which my sister Kim and her husband won and there were bubbles and sparklers, too. We all brought our own food to grill and Justin made his delicious potato salad. Everly had a lot of fun, especially with the homeowner's little dog, Magic. We are not really little dog people but it was sure cute to see her play with him. It was a really fun night for everyone and we saw lots of fireworks on our drive home that night. Holidays really are better with kids!

She got her Uncle to put these on for her and it was hilarious. Also, she got a little crazy with the chips and dip!
