Touch-A-Truck 2016

Last Saturday we went to Touch-a Truck for the 3rd year in a row. It was our 3rd year in a row going and probably the hottest yet. Zero shade and I felt like my skin was melting. If we were in the shade it would have been fine but that direct sunlight was too much. Luckily we only spent about an hour there and that was enough for the kids to have a blast. Last year it was raining for a little with even some lightning so I guess we can't complain too much. This year the kids got to sit in a helicopter which I don't recall ever being there before. The diggers are always a hit and Aspen liked the baby section with toy cars. Ev was able to even get in some bounce house time before we had to leave for her game. Here is a little video and some pictures:

iphone Repair

Last month while on a hike I dropped my iphone straight down on a rock and cracked the corner of the screen. I did not have a case on it because it fits better in my waist belt without the case but normally I have an OtterBox on it. I was bummed but lucky the crack was only in the corner and when I put my case back on you could barely see it. I knew I would fix it eventually so I could trade it in when I get a new phone next fall but wasn't in a super rush. Then a week or two later, I was tossing Justin's phone onto the table behind our couch and it just slid right off and onto our tile floor. The ENTIRE front shattered. I felt like an idiot and I felt even worse because I had now shattered two iphone screens. I told him I would fix it but then as the weeks passed I was having trouble finding the time to take it and get it done. I have like zero extra time during the week and the last thing I want to do on the weekend is wait around for my phone to get fixed. Luckily, we were recommended to go to Mobile Matrix Repair because the owner used to work with my brother-in-law. I should have gone sooner. Zack was super nice and fast with both phones. No, it is not cheap, but it is cheaper than filing an insurance claim on your phone and definitely cheaper than a new phone. Unfortunately, these parts are expensive, but to help prevent this from happening again, Zack put tempered glass screen protectors on both of our phones so we should be set! Also, he does fix other phone brands and tablets as well if you need to fix one of those and is located in the Fry's parking lot at 59th Avenue and the 101. Here is our before and after:

Touch-A-Truck 2015

Last Saturday we attended Touch-A-Truck out at the Westgate parking lot for the second year in a row. It is a FREE event put on by City of Glendale Parks and Rec. I think it is a really cool and fun event. Here is my post from our first time attending last year. What kind of kid doesn't like climbing up on trucks and honking the horn? The kids loved the little swag that lots of the truck companies were giving out. Everly is obsessed with a CEMEX calculator she got and Teddy with that whistle! I wanted to throw it far away but he wouldn't let it out of his sight. Aspen wanted to walk everywhere which is great except for the part where she is slow because she is soooo tiny. We also got caught in a little rain but it wasn't too bad and the fact that it wasn't hot is a win for us. The kids had fun (despite Everly having an un-diagnosed ear infection) and we worked up an appetite so we stopped for Freddy's on the way home. Freddy's is always a good choice and Aspen ate an entire hot dog! Little piggy! Also, I must say that all of the vendors and people helping with this event are always so nice and helpful. Kids can be a lot sometimes and they have always been so patient and generous.

This year they also had a bounce house and blow up slide.

Family Pictures

Still kind of in shock with how many of these pictures turned out good. Aspen was really starting to get fussy (not feeling good) but Jamie was ready when Aspen was in the mood so we lucked out. I love the pictures of us individually with the girls and I love that she got Aspen doing her little "face" with Justin. I have already started making our Christmas cards and these pictures look great on them! Thanks Jamie!

Aspen's 1 Year Pictures

A couple of weeks ago we met my friend Jamie to have some pictures taken. We were trying to knock out 3 birds with one stone: Aspen's 1 year pictures, Everly's 4 year pictures, and Family pictures for the Christmas card. It is hard to schedule time for these (even though Jamie is amazing and did this with her little newborn) so being able to do all of these at once helps. We took these pictures at Manistee Ranch Park in Glendale early in the morning. I love the light that Jamie was able to capture by shooting early. Aspen started to get fussy/sick/teething but somehow Jamie still managed to get some great pictures. Aspen's dress is form Old Navy, her shoes are from Freshly Picked and her headband is from Bloomies Handmande. I will post some of Everly and then some of the family/parent shots later.

Touch A Truck

Last Saturday morning we headed to south Glendale just outside the Cardinals Stadium to attend a free event called Touch a Truck. My sister had heard about it and my nephew is obsessed with trucks so she invited us to go. It was put on by the Empire Cat company and the City of Glendale and it was pretty awesome. It was all setup in the parking lot and there were lots of different types of trucks there. Everly loved sitting in them and honking the horns. She also loved pressing all of the buttons and switches in the cars. There were lots of horns being honked constantly but they spaced everything out in the parking lot so there were definitely areas that were less loud. They also had free ear plugs. The area with the construction trucks had dirt for the kids to practice digging and Everly liked that a lot as well. Teddy loved seeing the garbage truck or as he calls it "yuck truck." Cameron loved sitting on the city bus and we think it was because it was air conditioned...smart boy. I don't know who came up with this, but it was great and everyone working there was super nice. Days like this make me glad we live in a big city with such cool free events!
