Weekend in Review

Last weekend we had a quick soccer filled couple of days. On Friday night we went to my nephews football game. The girls had fun playing together and watched almost none of the actual game. Saturday morning Everly had a soccer game. She played really well and scored 1 goal that she really had to earn. After her game I went straight out to my soccer game. I played in a 4v4 tournament at Octoberfest in Tempe. It was fun but pretty hot. We started out really well and won our first 4 games and then lost in the quarterfinals. After we lost we headed over to get some beers. It was fun having some German beers and hanging out for a bit. Saturday night Justin took Everly to her first Coyotes NHL game. They got free tickets, free hats, $1 hot dogs and $1 beers so they had a fun night. Aspen and I met my dad at Freddy's for dinner since he was in town. She was funny and kept saying "look at me Grandpa." Sunday morning I got up and knocked out an 11 mile run and then kept it pretty low-key the rest of the day. We went grocery shopping, did some cleaning and homework and watched the Cardinals game. It was a great little weekend!

Cardinals Training Camp 2017

On Friday since I was off we decided to head out to Cardinals Training Camp. Last year I took the girls with my brother-in-law and we had a lot of fun (HERE) so I knew I wanted to take the girls again this year. Justin was able to get off work a little early as well so he could come too. I really like taking the girls to Cardinals Training Camp for a couple of reasons. They love the Cardinals but taking them to an actual game would just be ridiculous and expensive and not worth it so this is awesome because it is completely free. Also, in the dead of summer, it is awesome to have an air conditioned activity for the kids. This year they had a little kid zone which was fun for the kids to do some football drills. Honestly they are happy just running around the stadium and snacking on popcorn while we drink a couple beers. It really is a win for everyone. My niece was also able to make it and meet us there with her son so the girls really had a great time. I would assume it is busier on the weekends but it has not been bad on Fridays so I would definitely recommend it!

Super Bowl Sunday!

Super Bowl Sunday was not as exciting as it would have been if the Cardinals were playing, but Everly loved the idea that we were having a party so it was fun. I started the day with a morning hike with my mom. The weather was PERFECT. We had planned to go over to my sisters to watch the game and she set up a game for the kids. I made cookies to bring over and Justin made queso and guacamole since we were doing an appetizer night. My sister made some super yummy potato skins and the kids played while we watched the game. The half time show was really good and Everly now recognizes Lady Gaga when she is on TV. My sister had a pin the football in the posts game for the kids which they loved as well. It was a crazy game and I wanted Atlanta to win, but it was a fun Sunday. Hopefully it is the Cardinals winning next year!

Cardinals Training Camp

Last Friday I had the day off so I decided to take the girls to the Arizona Cardinals Training Camp out at University of Phoenix Stadium. It is only like a 15-20 minute drive for us and Everly actually gets really into the Cardinals since Justin is a fan so I thought it would be fun. My brother-in-law Tony and niece Mae met us there. It was actually really cool to see them run some plays. They actually had pads on and everything and it was nice and air conditioned in the stadium. You could have had beer too but I didn't (although I wanted to). I think if you were a big fan it would be totally fun to just sit there and watch them practice because you just don't get to see that often. I think just the sheer massiveness of the stadium was exciting for the girls. They had fun chasing each other around and best part of all it is completely free! Well, I did buy the girls some French fries but you can totally go for free if you want! I definitely would like to take them again next year!

Of course we had to bust out their cheerleader dresses. Ev's was a little short though so we added leggings.

Weekend in Review: Lots of Sports!

Our long Martin Luther King Jr. holiday weekend was great and filled with lots of sports. It started off Saturday morning with an Itty Bitty Golf Tournament put on by Phoenix Parks and the Junior Golf Association of Arizona. Teddy actually got a golf set for Christmas and Ev liked playing with it too so they were pretty excited. It was cute and they tried to teach the kids about the sport of golf but their attention span is still short, haha. It was a bit cold for Cam and Aspen to really enjoy it but we got to take the clubs home so they can play more whenever they want. They also got free snacks afterwards too which was nice because I feel like Everly is ALWAYS hungry now. After the golf tournament I headed out for 2 of my 3 soccer games for the weekend. On Saturday night we went to my sister-in-law's house to watch the Cardinals game. It was a very exciting and eventful game and she made yummy shredded beef so it was a fun night. On Sunday morning I had my last soccer game because we did not move on through the tournament. It was good exercise though and I got Monday off so I wasn't to mad about it. On Sunday night I took my first restorative yoga class and it was really good but intense. You hold the seated poses for 3-5 minutes and I think my body needed that. On Monday morning I slept in a little but still got in a 10k and 45 minutes of lifting at the gym. It was nice to take my time and not have to rush. We also got a lot of cleaning done on Monday which always makes me feel better. I was even able to sneak in a hot yoga class last night. Usually we plan something for the kids on our day off so it was nice to just take that extra day off and do what I wanted to. Looking forward to the short work week.
