Baby Milestone: Walking!

Over a week ago Aspen took 1 tiny step by herself while we were in Palm Springs but we didn't catch it on video. This past weekend she started working on it much more and we did catch a couple of clips on our phone. She still looks too tiny to me to start walking but she's my baby so I'm probably biased. She does this one thing where she just moves one foot and pivots around that is pretty funny. I think that she will really start getting more confident because she is in daycare all day and gets to see other kids walking around. We are so proud of our little squishy!

So Close to Walking!

One of the biggest things I have learned while being a mother to two is that it is sooo hard not to compare your kids. Especially with how much things are documented and timehop and what not, I am constantly reminded of what Everly was doing at this age and comparing to what Aspen is doing. Aspen is much quieter than Everly was and much more chill. She is eating very good like her sister did, but it took a while. She is a very good sleeper but only in a crib (not so much in a carseat). At this point Everly was moving around a ton and getting into everything and we didn't really think Aspen was showing any signs of walking (never uses the walking toy). All of the sudden she started to try and stand up unassisted and has now been trying that a ton lately. I remember that it took Everly forever to do this. She was taking steps from furniture pieces to us around a year old but would not just stand up unassisted until about 15 months old. Aspen seems to be doing things the other way around. During story time last night she stood up on her own and stayed standing for several seconds and Justin and I just started laughing. It is soo cute and she just looks too tiny to be a walker! No attempts at unassisted steps yet but here is a little video of some of her progress lately (which is hard to catch on video)!

A mid-month Update

So basically in the past week Aspen had hit all kinds of awesome baby milestone's so I wanted to do a little mid-month update. We have been working on lots of little things with her ( I call them tricks) and it didn't seem like she was picking it up until last weekend she decided to do everything. Late last week we caught her standing up at the tub (previously she only got up on to her knees). She still doesn't do it a lot but we know she can. Then she started clapping, putting her arms up for "So Big" when we ask her "How big are you?" and she is waving hi. It was a big weekend for her. Also, I thought I saw something in her gums like a tooth was close but still couldn't feel it and then yesterday after work I felt it. She is finally cutting her first tooth on the bottom! She has definitely been more fussy than normal, but nothing horrible at all. She is still the sweetest little angel baby. Baby Milestone!

Last Friday Aspen hit a baby milestone. No, she has not popped any teeth yet. Instead, she crawled for the first time! She has been getting around for a while now scooting and rolling but this was the first time we caught her legitimately crawling on all fours. My guess is that she had already done this at daycare where she sees other babies do this, but it was still super exciting to see. She is so cute and so happy and now going to be getting into all of her sister's toys! Also, all of the remotes. She loves remotes and cell phones. It won't be long before she starts pulling herself up on things. She has been trying to at the fireplace so it is really only a matter of time. Here is a video of her first crawl:
