St. Luke's Carnival 2016

Fall is seriously my favorite time of year. On top of the fact that the weather stops being insanely hot there are also so many fun events and activities for the kids. One of the first activities of the season is the St. Luke's Octoberfest Carnival. We can walk to the carnival from my sister's house and the kids have a blast. HERE are our last couple of trips to the carnival. We went to the carnival again last Friday night. Looking back it was probably the weakest carnival yet. The kids still had fun but the rides were not as good and there were almost no games, including no gold fish. My other sister and niece also weren't there because they were out of town so it was sad that they missed it. Aspen did really good on all of the rides. Cam and Teddy both got a little freaked out on the roller coaster but Everly must be still on a Disney high because she had her arms up and was cheering. Ted did much better this year on the Adventure ride and Everly loved it as well. We got some funnel cake buy no fry bread this year. No face painting either :(. I put together a little video from the clips on my phone and you can see it was still a good time. I am really loving how the new iphone update creates the videos for you so easily. It is awesome for documenting all of the fun stuff we do with the kids! See you next year St. Luke's!

Arrowhead Mall Carnival

Last week we drove by the mall and saw parts of a carnival in the parking lot. I wasn't sure if it was being set up or taken down but later when I went on their website I saw that it was starting Friday and going on for a week so we decided to wait and go Monday night so there would be no crowds. There was definitely no crowds so that was nice. It was a small little carnival but it had some different rides than we are used to with the church carnival we go to every year so it was fun. There were of course lots of rides that Everly couldn't go on but there was more than enough that she could ride. There was this cool boat one that I had never seen before. I had to ride on it with her but it was fun. She wanted to go on this really fast ride (the one that the kid in Sandlot throws up on) but luckily she does not meet the height requirement. She also wanted to play all of the carnival games but insisted on the balloon darts. Justin won her a Twilight Sparkle My Little Pony and she took that thing with her to school today. I think its weird, but whatever. Aspen went on one of the rides too but had fun just walking around and seeing all of the lights. We are typically pretty boring during the week and just go straight home and have dinner, baths, bedtime, etc. so it was fun to mix it up a little for once.

St. Luke's Carnival 2015

Is it clear yet how much we loooooove fall??? There is just so much to do once it is finally not a million degrees out! The past couple of years we have really enjoyed going to the St. Luke's Carnival so we went again last Saturday night. Here is my post from last year. It is at a Catholic Church walking distance from my sister's house and the kids have a blast! I love getting some Carnival food (fry bread, funnel cake) so it is a win-win for everyone. It seemed like it was going to rain again but it didn't so that was good. Between our group that went we won 3 goldfish and I believe 2 of them died within 24 hours. Everly named hers "Jackie" and I have no idea why. Jackie died and Everly doesn't believe me. Anyways, we were a little bummed that they didn't have the bumblebee ride but the carousel was a little better this year so that was cool. Someone threw up while the kids were on the teacup ride and it was disgusting but the kids had no idea. They totally would have stared if they had seen it. Everly loved having her buddy Riley at the carnival with her. Aspen enjoyed 90% of the carousel, and to be honest, it was a long ride so I am pretty proud of her. She wanted to walk everywhere again but did pretty good. If you like going to the state fair, this carnival is really dinky but it is perfect for us and for taking the kids so we love it. Can't wait to go again next year!

Here is a video from the night and you have to pay special attention to the end when Justin took the kids on the adventure course. Ted wanted out.

See you next year, St. Luke's!

St. Luke's Carnival

Last weekend we went to a carnival at the catholic church by my sister's house. We went 2 years ago and had a lot of fun (except for when Justin threw up). My sister also went last year and so we were all excited to go this year. My sister bought tickets in advance at the church so it was a lot cheaper and we all ate dinner before going so that saved money as well. My sister actually lives so close that they walked there but since we were meeting them we drove. It is totally a low budget carnival and not super clean or fancy by any means but it is fun for the kids. Everly was excited just at the thought of going there. She got her face painted again when we got there. That's her new obsession now. She got her face painted 3 times in the last week at different events. The kids were actually able to go on their own rides this year which was also a lot of fun. It is so cute to watch them on rides together. Everly even went on this bumblebee ride all by herself. She loved it! We ate some funnel cake, played some games and my sister took home some goldfish (I think one is still alive). Aspen slept the whole time but it was a really fun night and I am glad we went (although I do wish is was not in a dirt lot because it is so dusty and there are a lot of smokers).
