Shamrock Farms Tour

This past weekend we did the Easter Egg Hunt and Farm Tour our at Shamrock Farms. It has been 3 years since we did this and I really thought Aspen would have fun since she is older now so I wanted to do it. Here are a couple of our previous trips out to Shamrock Farms. It was a long drive out to Maricopa but we made good time and got out there early enough for the kids to get their faces painted and play some games. Besides Aspen freaking out and panicking at the Easter Bunny (who was creepy tbh) the kids did really well during the tour. They were funny and all plugging their noses because of the smell. They got lots of fun prizes during the Easter egg hunt portion and then after the tour was over we stayed to eat lunch and have some Shamrock Farms ice cream. It was a fun morning and I am really glad we made it out there this year!

Weekend in Review

Last weekend I had an extra day off and it still didn't feel like enough time. Thankfully, Spring Break is right around the corner. Friday I had the day off so I took the girls to IHOP for 77c pancakes before school. I spent the rest of the day shopping with Aspen while Everly was at school. Friday night we took the kids to watch a movie in the courtyard at Desert Ridge. They were playing Coco and we haven't seen it since seeing it in the theatre so it was fun. The kids did great and I am glad we went. On Saturday I went for a hike and then went out for St. Patrick's Day. I got home entirely too late but it was fun. Sunday we took the kids to take pictures with the Easter Bunny. Aspen seemed like she was going to do good and then decided to hate it at the last minute. We were able to get a picture without tears but she looks pissed. She was pissed. Sunday night my sister came over for dinner and I went on a 2 mile bike/run with Everly and Teddy. They are getting too fast for me! We ate dinner and played a board game and it was a great ending to the weekend.

Easter 2017

We had a wonderful Easter holiday last weekend. It started Friday night with Easter egg painting. We actually didn't have any major spills this year so that was a success. Regardless, we have done this outside for the past couple of years just in case. We also discovered how to finally put on those clear film designs. Apparently, just read the directions and use a blow dryer. Now we know. We had the girls Easter baskets out for them when they got up Sunday morning. Sunday morning we headed to mass at 7AM. I had to do the girls hair in church but we did get there about 15 minutes early so I had time for that. Aspen was kind of a nightmare in church. To be fair, she wasn't really feeling well. She made Teddy look like an angel and that kid doesn't understand the concept of whispering. Things were a bit better when we finally got out of there. We held breakfast and the egg hunt at my house. It was kind of nuts but went pretty well. Thanks champagne! We went to my sister's for dinner that night and it was delicious. Can't go wrong with ham, asparagus, green beans and mashed potatoes. So good, I didn't even take a picture. Hope everyone had a wonderful Easter!

Easter Bunny Pictures 2017

This past weekend we took advantage of the free Easter Bunny Pictures at Desert Ridge. Last year Aspen cried bloody murder (HERE) so we had been trying to prepare her better this year. She is actually kind of obsessed with bunnies and calls them all "bunny hops" like Judy Hops from Zootopia. We were showing her pictures of the Easter Bunny and talking about giving them high fives. When the Easter Bunny came out she was okay and waving hi but then when it was actually our turn to take the picture, she lost it. Like, really lost it. She was flailing and trying to get down and screaming for Justin. There was no way I would be able to get her to sit  near the bunny but somehow I convinced her to stand next to Everly and hold her hand. We also take pictures a lot so I just kept saying cheese and she started smiling and we were able to get a couple of pretty darn good shots. You would have no idea by looking at these pictures how she melted down right before.

Admittedly, the bunny is kind of creepy.

Home Depot Workshop: April 2017

This month's workshop was an Easter themed project to build and paint an Easter basket so we decided it would be a good first project for Aspen to do. She was slightly distracted because the Home Depot we went to was handing out bags of freshly popped popcorn and that is Aspen's weakness. Girl loves her popcorn. Justin was able to build her Easter basket pretty quickly so she could get right into painting so she ended up doing pretty good. She has some odd color choices but I cleaned it up a little so it was at least completely painted. Everly did a great job with her hammering and I convinced her to stick with pastel colors so hers turned our really cute. I need to put some candy in them and leave them out on the table for Easter. Gone are our days of just one of us going to the workshop because Aspen will need one on one attention for a long time but I am glad she can finally start collecting her pins!
