New Years 2018

We had a great New Years holiday! We had planned to go to a block party with Justin's siblings downtown and stay at his sister's apartment that night. It worked out because my mom recently moved into a new place and the girls were so excited to spend the night there. They did some New Years Eve celebrations with my sister and the kids before spending the night. They also saw Ferdinand that day which I was cool with because I didn't really care to see that movie. Before Justin and I met up with his family downtown, we went to a little New Years Eve dinner. We were trying to take advantage of the fact that we didn't have kids so we went to Taco Guild. It was really good and they had happy hour so with drinks and an appetizer I think our total bill was like $30. I have been on a margarita kick lately and theirs did not disappoint. The salsas and tacos were super yummy as well. After we ate we hung out at Justin's sister's apartment for a while before heading to the block party. We all pre-gamed pretty well. There were a lot of people out but it was a fun night. Since it was outside, thankfully it was not super cold. I also ran into an old friend who was in town from Chicago completely by random so that was super cool. I know it was a good night because I barely took any pictures. I also actually stayed up past midnight so it was basically a miracle! The next morning I was definitely tired but eventually I got my crap together and ran a couple miles with Everly while she rode on her bike. I had been doing a 4-day running streak that went from Thanksgiving to New Years Day and so it was my last day. Everly did great on her bike as well. I am so excited for all of the fun things coming up in 2018.  Disneyland trip in about a week and a half, 2 new baby nieces/nephews, and a trip to Octoberfest in Germany. Happy New Years!

Weekend in Review

I had a lot planned last weekend so I took off Monday in advance because I have a lot of time to use before the end of the year and I also wanted to have some extra time with the girls. On Friday I left work and went straight to my sister-in-laws for dinner before we saw Death Cab for Cutie at a new venue downtown, The Van Buren. It was an awesome show although it felt like it went by really fast. The next morning I took the girls to Everly's soccer game and then we hit up the mall on the way home. It was actually really good to spend most of Saturday alone with them since I was going to be gone again Saturday night. Saturday I went out with my sister-in-law to our friend's birthday party. It was Disco themed and we had a blast. We drank way too much champagne but it was seriously such a fun night. On Monday Aspen and I had some alone time and it was really nice. We went to Costco and story time and picked up lots of new books for her sister to read. It was a great long weekend and I have a short week before another long weekend next weekend!

Diamondbacks Game!

Last week we got an alert that they were offering $1 tickets to the Diamondbacks game and since we didn't have soccer or church that night we decided to take advantage of it and go. Even though Everly is back in school, it is fun to do something special every once in a while. The game was at 6:40 I think so I was able to go home first and eat a quick dinner and change before heading back downtown. It was a little busier in the section we were seated in this time, but my family went to the game for $4 so I really can't complain. The girls checked in with the Kids Club and got a free shirt since it was their second visit. I think the Diamondbacks scored 5 innings all while the girls were playing in the kids zone area so it was a good start. Everly was happy because Justin got her some cotton candy and Aspen loved being by the pool again. We really don't go out during the week very often but it was a lot of fun and I am glad we went.

 

Daddy Daughter Date

Last Friday night Justin planned a date night for him and Everly. CityScape in downtown Phoenix does a free movie night once a month and last Friday it was Finding Nemo in preparation for the sequel, Finding Dory coming out this week. It sounds like it would be really hot but it was slightly overcase and Everly got to play in the splashpad before eating dinner and watching the movie so Justin said it actually wasn't that bad. They got their early and got a seat in the front but it was actually a little loud so if you ever go to one, sit farther back. Justin also treated Everly to some frozen yogurt after the movie so she was really excited. I had a soccer game that night so my mom watched Aspen during my game and we all got home around the same time. I really enjoy my one on one time with Everly shopping and running errands but Justin doesn't always get as many of those opportunities so I am really glad they got to have this time together. She is at a really fun age right now and lucky that she has a great Papa that wants to spend time with her.

Urban Ale Trail 2015

Last Saturday I tagged along with my sister-in-laws and my sister at the Urban Ale Trail hosted by Downtown Phoenix. I love beer and I love Downtown Phoenix so it was hard to say no even though I had a million other things going on that weekend. I actually one a free filled growler a few days before the event from a Facebook post. After I picked up Everly from school Friday we headed to First Draft Book Bar (one of the stops on the trail) at Changing Hands Bookstore to pick up the growler and take home to Justin. We stumbled into a reading of "The Day the Crayons Came Home" by the author Drew Daywalt and it was awesome. We have his first book and the sequel is just as fun. Everly asked me if she could go sit with the other kids. She is becoming so indpenendent. We ended up buying some books and she got her face painted. It was a really fun little surprise evening. I also felt better about leaving Justin home to watch the girls knowing that I was bringing him a growler of beer. On Saturday, my brother-in-law Tony was very kind to be our DD. We started at the District in the Sheraton because the first 300 people got a free (unfilled) growler. All of the places along the trail had snacks and $1 or $2 4 oz. pours, although, V's Barbershop gave us a full bottle! We also stopped into The Duce, Filmbar, Carly's Bistro, and Short Leash. It was hot, and they definitely have some kinks to iron out as it was only the second year of the trail, but I still had fun. Best part, was definitely the fried pickles at Short Leash. Need to go back there!
