On Wednesday we headed to Everly's school for her Kindergarten Graduation. She has done really well this year and we are so proud of her. Justin and my sister met me at the graduation. The kids filed in (4 or 5 Kindergarten classes) and song some songs before receiving their certificates. She had been practicing the songs and it was really cute. Afterward we followed her to her class and she took a picture with her teacher and a friend before heading home to open her American Girl present. They had/still have a big sale going on so I got her some fun accessories. My sister also came over for some after lunch pool time. It was a good morning. It also worked out that my Dad was in town for work so that afternoon we met him for dinner. He had a little present for Everly and even picked up a Moana beach ball for Aspen. It was good to see him because today is actually his 60th birthday so we were able to give him his birthday present. He said he is going to be able to go back to NY to see his family this weekend so that should be good. It was good to see him and wish him a Happy Birthday! If someone is going to find a Hello Kitty Kindergarten graduation card, it's going to be my Dad.
This week my dad was in town for a few days for work so we made an ice cream date so that we would get to see him. He was only here for a couple of days during the week and he is usually really busy with work while he is here so we tried to keep it simple and just meet for ice cream. My sister met us there as well so that he would be able to see them, too. The kids were all excited to see each other because we really don't go out much during the week. Cam was also really exited to get some ice cream and immediately sat himself down at the table upon walking in. Even Nora snuck a few bites of ice cream. Everly was an ice cream monster and basically ate an entire 2 scoop sundae BY HER SELF. Girl loves her dessert. My dad was in Japan over Christmas so we were able to give him his Christmas present as well so it was really good to see him. I am glad we were all able to meet up while he was here!
I swear, we see my Dad more now that he has moved to Michigan than when he actually lived in Arizona! Last week he was here for work so we got to see him for a bit. On Wednesday night we met him for dinner at Freddy's. I had just gone to Freddy's Friday night but I rarely turn down Freddy's and Everly loves it to so its a win-win. I am glad the girls get to see him even if it is only for short bits of time here and there. We also got to see my dad on Friday night because my sister had him over for pizza. It was so funny to watch Teddy show-off for his Grandpa. It is just interesting because I grew up close to my grandparents so I hope they can make the best of the circumstances. My dad may come back for my confirmation in a couple of weeks so we might just get lucky and get to see him again real soon!
Just before Aspen was born my dad had to move to Michigan for work. Even though he travels a lot and we don't see him a ton, it still sucked that he couldn't be there for the birth, baptism, or Everly's birthday. He did happen to be back in town for work a couple of weeks ago so we were happy to have him over for dinner. We made a comforting pasta dish with cappers garlic bread and busted out a bottle of wine we have been saving for about a year and a half from when we went to Keuka Lake for my family reunion (it was delicious by the way). Everly was very excited to see her Grandpa and he brought her a hello kitty pez dispenser which I just caught her sneaking into after dinner last night. A couple days later we went to dinner for Justin's birthday and invited my dad to come along. It was nice to spend a little more time with him before he had to go back. I am thankful for technology because we have been able to FaceTime while he is in Japan for work and well it is no replacement for getting to actually see him it is definitely better than nothing. We miss you, Grandpa!
